People fail to see videogames as a legitimate art form. The gaming industry is huge yet so many people know so little about games. Diogenes II says: @person comparing violence in media to programs like "Sesame Street" I was only commenting about violent video games and the fact that scientific research indicates that these games have no last negative impact on children and aren't related to violent criminal behavior. Although it is understandable that people might expect that there would be a lasting negative impact, the research shows this isn't the case. It's speculated that most children understand that these games aren't real and don't think it is ok to act that way, and that for many children playing these games is catharctic and has other positive effects that counterbalance any negative effects. Conversely research has shown that "Sesame Street" does have a last positive impact on children. Apparently violent video games aren't mirror images of "Sesame Street" in that regard.
