Do you believe a large part of success in life can be traced back to an individual's level of confidence?

Yes - the road to success is often paved with setbacks and challenges. Confidence is knowing that regardless of these challenges, if you learn and work hard, you'll succeed. Confidence is also knowing that you can cope with what's going on in your life, and that you have a right to be happy. Self-confident people have qualities that everyone admires.

What are the best ways to build confidence? Are there any tricks or daily routines?

Focus on your successes: before going to bed every night, write down three successes from that day. Keep this in a journal so you can look back and reflect on all of your successes over the weeks and months.

Create a vision for your life one year from now. Take a half hour and write down the answers to the following questions about your best imagined outcome for your life, one year from now: Who will you be spending your time with; what will you be doing with them; what impact will you make; what values will you honor; what's exciting about this; and how will this impact the rest of your life?

What would you say to a naturally shy person? Is there any hope for this individual to eventually blossom into a more confident lifestyle or is confidence simply determined at childhood?

I would say, practice, practice, practice; find your values; discover your strengths, and most of all, find like-minded people. The people who bring out the best in you, the people who allow you to truly be yourself and the people whose company you naturally enjoy. Pretty soon, you'll realize that you have too much to share and are too valuable to this world to stay quiet for much longer. I used to be painfully shy. I was so quiet as a child, that people thought I was mute. Then, I came into my own in my 20's by finding people who share my values and tapping into my strengths and values. Now, I give talks to thousands of people and love being interviewed on TV!

It's the month of February which means Valentines Day is here. Any advice for single people who often lack the confidence necessary to approach someone they're attracted to due to the fear of rejection?

Confidence is wildly attractive, so "fake it until you make it". Pretend you're acting in a play and try on confidence for two minutes at a time. See how it changes your interactions and your life.
