This Thursday a mysterious Colorado corporation, The Golden Spike Company, backed by nameless investors is anticipated to announce a manned mission to the Moon. Such a feat could cost well over two billion dollars and has many naysayers questioning the high priced technical endeavor's feasibility.
Golden Spike, whose name oddly brings flashbacks to chidhood memories of Resident Evil's Umbrella Corporation released a media briefing that states: "The Golden Spike Company invites you to attend a game-changing announcement about the future of commercial human space travel to the Moon. Executives from the company will describe the team, the mission architecture, and the business model." The press conference will take place December 6th 2012 in Washington.
It's been reported the company's registered agent is none other than S. Alan Stern., an ex-NASA head who is currently chief scientist at MoonEx, a private group holding aspirations of winning the Google Lunar competition than mining the Moon for resources (Duncan Jones' movie Moon wasn't so crazy after all)..
Many questions still remain surrounding the details of the mission and only time will tell how serious Golden is. Check back for more as we release it.
